These colorful small fused glass plates bring a little of the outside world in. This series of aspen trees is fused by melting multiple layers of crushed glass (called frit) and glass powders in a kiln to approximately 1500 degrees. Another kiln firing fire-polishes the sharp edges, with a final firing slumping the glass into a mold to achieve the slight curve.

 

Technically, these are food safe, if you like a little bling under your edibles.
